Saturday June 17
March for More Midwives
Roundhouse Park, 255 Bremner Blvd, Toronto, ON M5V 3M9
The Saturday pre-Congress event, to announce that the midwives of the world have arrived in a city for their triennial congress, has become hugely popular. From the Road to Durban, to Prague’s Voices of Midwives and now, Toronto’s March for More Midwives, this increasingly popular curtain-raiser will allow thousands of midwives to walk together in solidarity, united in the message that the world needs more midwives….and needs them now.
Sunday June 18
Multifaith Celebration of Midwifery
John Bassett Theatre, MTCC
Described by some midwives as an opportunity for rededication to midwifery, and by others simply as an event that provides a massive feel-good factor. Whatever the reason for attending the multi faith celebration you can be certain of leaving the theatre with a ‘spring in your step’ following an uplifting 60 minutes of music and short faith contributions.
Seats are available on a first come basis. This theatre can seat 1,300 delegates so the event is sure to be full.
Plenary Hall F&G, MTCC
It’s known as the ‘midwifery Olympics’ as over 110 country flags of member organizations are paraded. With many midwives in colorful national costume or wearing country emblems, this colourful extravaganza is full of fun, laughter and joy. An opportunity to experience top class cultural contributions in the form of dance, music and song as well as the Canadian midwives choir. A short address from the ICM President, ICM Awards and other presentations provides a perfect programme for the official opening of ICM 2017 Toronto.
A Souvenir Programme is available and supported by Johnson and Johnson.
Exhibition Hall D&E, MTCC
A first opportunity for delegates to meet with sponsors and exhibitors to hear about the products and services on offer over the next four days. Many of the sponsors are providing added value through side sessions, panels, and workshops. The opening of the Exhibition is followed by a welcome reception with drinks and canapes: this is often the time to meet up with old friends and make new ones.
